ChTPZ Group

ChTPZ Group is one of the leading industrial groups in Russia's metallurgical complex and comprises ferrous metallurgy enterprises and companies, including the Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant. The plant operates on the principles of White Metallurgy, which is very much in line with our approach.  We were tasked with organising a team to carry out co-design together with the Wowhaus architectural firm. This was the first time this practice had been carried out in Chelyabinsk, so it was necessary not only to gather residents, but also to explain to them the mechanics and importance of participation in such projects.
The project lasted from July to September 2020. During this time we produced a sociological survey and conducted in-depth interviews with stakeholders together with our fellow sociologists from the Civil Engineering Laboratory. During this time we conducted six online sessions with citizens in co-operation with Chelyabinsk Urbanist, who actively commented and proposed solutions for the architectural concept.
We went through all stages of classical participatory design and received 100% approval from the citizens of Chelyabinsk at the stage of the final presentation of architectural solutions . As part of the information campaign, we issued about 100 publications and involved more than 300,000 people in discussions on social networks. The project has 900 mentions in social networks.
